Da' Hui Hawaiian Bar & Grill

Grab your flip-flops and brace yourself for a rum-soaked ride, because Da’ Hui is slinging beach vibes with a side of Portland grit that’ll make you question if you’re still on dry land. This place has rum like a pirate’s treasure chest—hurricanes, punch bowls, you name it. Not exactly groundbreaking, but after a few sips, you’ll be booking a one-way ticket to Tiki Island in your mind. And if you’re balling on a budget, the Rose City Vodka well drink is there to keep your wallet happy and your taste buds… tolerating.

The vibe here is “tiki hut on the outside, dark dive bar on the inside.” Those big windows let in just enough light to keep you from walking into walls, but the interior lighting makes everyone look at least one point hotter—ideal if you’re looking to upgrade your night out with a quick illusion. There’s soft punk rock humming along in the background, just quiet enough to make you wonder if you’re hearing things. As for the staff, let’s just say “aloha” here translates to “friendly but focused.” Don’t expect a lei or a smile; they’re there to serve you and vanish faster than a vacation romance.

And if you’re in need of a souvenir to remember your Hawaiian fever dream, grab one of their black T-shirts—they’re ready for all your island-fantasy wardrobe needs.
Now, the food. This is where Da’ Hui shows it’s not messing around. They’ve got Hawaiian flavors that’ll make you question why you ever accepted sad bar peanuts elsewhere. Kalua pork, house-made pork rinds (yes, please), and a whole lotta spam—if you leave hungry, it’s because you weren’t trying. And that pork rind crunch? Way better than anything that’s ever seen the inside of a plastic bag.

Convenience? Let’s just say it’s a “short walk” from the nearest MAX line, meaning you’ll earn your drinks by getting there. But the area’s packed with other bars and restaurants if you decide you need a little break from tiki-land. Oh, and the décor: think wood-paneled walls, a questionable amount of fish taxidermy, and enough topless lady paintings to make you feel like you’re in a thrift-store fever dream.
